Good evening!
I felt a little sick today, especially just before lunch so I have been trying to piece together bits of the puzzle to work out why. The last couple of days there have been moments where I have felt a headache behind my eyes, and yesterday I also woke up with a slight sort throat. This tells me that it could be a liver issue as the liver meridian is located in this area. I can feel that I have tension in my liver and in my stomach too. I also realise that I had baked flour recently which I know doesn’t help so I think it is time to abstain from flour products for the time being (perhaps 6 months to see how that goes :O). I also think a major cause is emotional too so I will look at what might be causing tension in my liver and stomach. I am sure through greater awareness and consciousness we can begin to heal ourselves.
Breakfast
Millet and sweet rice with pumpkin seeds and strawberry jam
Lunch
1 umeboshi plum with bancha tea

Simplicity is most definitely the way forward for the moment. Do you feel that eating simply is great too? Maybe you’ve never trie d it before. You must. Give it a go and see how your body responds :O)

Greetings!
I feel like I have mastered the art of staying on top of cooking and cleaning this week (sometimes it’s gets a little out of hand, particularly in my vVERY small kitchen) so now I feel like my next task is to get on top of home remedies (I have decided that one hip bath a week is a good start rather than two!) and making pickles and condiments. I think it will all fall into place and of course, practice will make things easier eventually.
Breakfast
Miso soup from yesterday with lemon
Sweet rice and millet porridge with strawberry jam
Lunch
Split pea soup with spring greens & rye bread
Rye toast with fruit spread
Chamomile tea
Dinner
Buckwheat soup from yesterday with rye bread
Bancha tea
It’s way past my bed time so I better get some shuteye pronto…zzzz!!

Hello!
I received a beautiful box full of lovely fresh organic ingredients yesterday. It was interesting to see that it contained mostly tree and fire foods (which I have mentioned before). Eating seasonal vegetables and fruit is so important not only for our own health but for the health of the planet too and what a great way to support the local farmers too!
Breakfast
Miso soup made with onion, celery and spring greens with lemon slices
Sweet rice porridge (straight) – mmm this was so delicious. I love sweet rice!
Bancha tea
Lunch
Split pea soup with spring greens
Polenta cutlets
Apple & cranberry cookies
Chamomile tea
Dinner
Buckwheat soup – mmm. I realise that I do not cook very often with buckwheat and would like to start using it a bit more regularly. The soup was really lovely.I made it with onions, carrots, celery, kombu, bay leaf, white miso and herb salt. :O)
Grape and blue berry kanten
Bancha tea
I didn’t do an end of month review last month so I am feeling like it is well and truly over due. End of two month review coming soon!

Hello!
It has been another glorious day here in England. As the season is changing into summer it is also time to start thinking about adjusting one’s diet accordingly. As the weather gets warmer you can start using quick cooking methods (this means more time outside – yay!) such as stir-frying, salads, fine cutting, blancing, steaming, and also using more summery ingredients such as big leafy greens, berries, quinoa and polenta. All these ingredients and cooking styles are particularly nourishing for the heart and small intestine and for one’s fire energy. It feels so nice to be consciously thinking about the changing seasons and to understand what the best things are to be eating.
Breakfast
Carrot and cous cous muffins
Lunch
Barley, brown rice & shitake mushroom squares
Dinner
Miso soup made with onion, daikon, cabbage and ginger
Polenta cutlets, mixed salad leaves, tempeh (from yesterday), sauerkraut & orange salad (from yesterday) and steamed broccoli with ume su
Red and white grape & blueberry kanten with amazake
Bancha tea
I have made the decision to sacrifice dance practice this evening for a restful night at home and a guarantee of getting my week off to a vitalised start ;o)

p.s. I’m going to make another cup of tea after posting this (I think I’ll have a chamomile tea) as I am feeling the thirst. Feel the thirst and drink it anyway (he he – I think the sun has gone to my head!!!)

I have found myself pondering many things lately. One of them is that I am so struck by how so many people are so unaware or asleep to their health, their lives, their well being. I am sure there are many things about myself that I am yet to discover but I think I am definitely becoming increasingly aware of myself, my environment, my every day life and how this has a very significant impact on my health and well being. I am beginning to realise that it’s very much a continual ever changing process. How on earth have we, in all our modern glory, allowed ourselves to get into such a conundrum? And more importantly, how do we get ourselves out of this state? Hmmm!
