Bonjour!

I’m so glad I made it through the week and managed to stay on top of everything (cooking, cleaning, following my diet (which I am doing as part of my studies) and not getting too tired (although admittedly I’m feeling a bit knackered tonight and really looking forward to not having to get up at any particular time tomorrow :O).

There’s no doubt about it that all this stuff takes alot of input but I am without a doubt that it is soooo worth it.

Breakfast

Hot lemon  (which is very good for liver in the mornings)

Miso soup made with wakame, daikon and carrot

Sweet rice and brown rice porridge with sunflower seeds and oat milk

Some roasted squash & onions and soya beans

Grain coffee with malt syrup and oat cream (this is my favourite deluxe drink at the moment!)

Lunch

Parsnip soup

Quinoa, hummous, rocket, roasted squash,   steamed brocolli & black beans with ginger & spring onion

Rooibos tea with oat milk

Then a bit later on in the afternoon I had a sweet rice and brown rice pudding type thing with oat cream and malt syrup

Dinner

A quick dinner of roasted salmon with pesto and tomatoes, cous cous, some grated daikon and boiled beetroot

A lovely cup of kukicha

I had a really great session in therapy (bioenergetics) this evening. It’s so useful in helping me understand energy within my body and how emotions effect that. This baggage clearance is good stuff ;o)

Good vibrations!

Hola!

Guess what? It’s almost midnight again and I’ve just got home from dancing & must be very quick updating on here so I can top up my zzzzzzz intake!  Although strangely enough, as this week has gone on (and as I continue to follow my healing diet) I am feeling as though I need less sleep and have more energy…I remember this is how I felt when I first came to macrobiotics and it’s what got me hooked – this sense of being so alive.

At the beginning it was about just eating whole foods but now I’m feeling and seeing that I’m ready to begin refining my diet to suit my needs and condition and I must say that it’s only been 4 days and it seems to be working for now. We’ll see what 6 weeks eating this way does. It’s also allowing me to be able to notice certain very sutbtle effects of foods and when one can start getting into the subtlely of the effects of foods then the fun can really begin ;o)

Breakfast

Hot lemon

Miso soup (same as yesterday) with tekka

Sweet rice and brown rice porridge with a splash of alk milk and roasted almonds

Mu tea

Lunch

Parsnip soup

Barley with brown and sweet rice with a beautiful little umeboshi plum (which I really love now! If you’ve never tried don’t be suprised if you don’t like them straight away!)

Soy beans with onions and furikake

Roasted squash

Nori

Salmon sushi

Plum compote type thing (I ran out of time whilst cooking this morning so I wasn’t able to turn this into something else, however it was delicious just on it’s own)

Grain coffee

Dinner

Quinoa, hummous, hijiki with carrots and roasted almonds, steamed brocolli & pressed carrot with ume su

Fresh mint tea

Fresh and minty dreams!

Hello!

I cooked for an hour this morning before leaving for work and now I’ve only just got home (it’s almost midnight) ready for more planning and preparation for tomorrow. It looks like tomorrow morning will also be another busy one.

Breakfast

Hot lemon

Miso soup made with hijiki, carrot & spring onion & tekka

Barley and oat porridge

Grain coffee with oat cream

Lunch

I was so hungry come lunchtime (and it reminds me how nice it is to feel hungry instead of snacking all the time and not allowing the appetite to do it’s thing!)

Squash and sweet potatoe soup

Delicious hummous (mmm I’ve never made hummous that tasted so good before!)

Salmon and spring onion sushi

Stir fry with carrots, brocolli, onions & pak choi

Dinner

Tofu pizza (I am so glad that this is finished now. I think I need to find some new mini baking dishes because I made far too much for one person not to mention how dull it can be eating the same thing again and again!)

Pressed cabbage

Chamomile, fennel and marshmallow root tea

So, I made it through another day without sweets or with snacks without event the slightest hint of any cravings or desires. I am really looking forward to a dessert tomorrow though and this morning I stewed some plums so I’ll see what else I can do with them tomorrow to make a lovely little dessert.

OK, enough from me. I better hit the sack.

Love & light

I’m going to keep this short and sweet as I’m feeling the need to get into bed asap (I have a bet with my sister to see if I can get to bed before 11pm which only gives me about 5 minutes…eeek)

To cut a long story short I’ve had an amazing day, I’ve eaten well and haven’t snacked or over indulged. Yay!

Breakfast

Miso soup from yesterday

Brown rice with roasted hazelnuts and oat cream

Grain coffee with oat cream

Lunch

Squash and sweet potato soup with parsley

Tofu/millet pizza

Grain coffee with oat cream

Dinner

Haddock, peas, rocket, boiled daikon (I forgot that I had some grated daikon with fish yesterday), pressed cucumber, sauerkraut rolls and roasted parsnips

A beautiful mug of amazake drink made with oat milk, ginger, lemon rind, kuzu and vanilla. Mmmm!

Blessings to you!

Hello beautiful fellow macrotarians :O)

It feels like such a long time ago since I last updated on here but now I’m pleased to report that I am back for the next 7 weeks at least, yipeee!!!

I am feeling really excited at the moment as I am sensing some kind of shift, whether that is just in my own world or in the grand scheme of the universe I am not sure. It really inspires me to think that people are beginning to wake up to how food and health are so related. There is so much to say on this subject but for the moment I must update you on my day and then get my head down for some much needed shut eye.

Today is the start of my healing diet. I was supposed to start this 6/7 weeks ago but I fell off that wagon due to being away from home alot, moving offices and not giving myself enough time to be able to do this. I think also emotionally I have felt the need to psyche myself up a bit and get ready for refining my diet and tuning it in to meet the needs of my condition. It has been wonderful eating a diet with lots of variety and with all the sweets I could eat but it is indeed time to make more precise changes so I can go on healing and improving my health.

Breakfast

I was so happy to share my breakfast with friend this morning. It was such a pleasure and a beautiful way to begin the week (and 6 weeks).

Hot lemon

Miso soup with wakame, carrot, squash, leeks & spring onion garnish

Millet porridge with roasted hazelnuts & steamed greens (cabbage). I cooked some fruit for my friend for breakfast but I was able to say no thank you. In a funny kind of way I’ve actually gone off sweet things a little bit??!! (I know, I know!)

Twig tea

Lunch

The creamiest, smoothest squash, sweet potatoe & kombu soup ever with a leek garnish

Haddock with garlic and shoyu, sauerkraut rolls, rocket salad with mustard dressing, roasted parsnips & peas

Nettle tea

Dinner

A super yummy tofu pizza with a millet base (I’m avoiding baked flour for the next 6 weeks) & pressed cucumber salad

Peppermint tea

I got through the day without snacking and without a sweet…wow. Long (precisely 5 weeks and 6 days) may it continue…oh I don’t meant without sweets…that would just be far too cruel, I mean without snacks and without over indulging in sweets (or anything for that matter!).

LOVE & LIGHT :o (

Good evening (or good morning I should say. I’m not going to tell you what time it is as it’s just far too late and I should be tucked up in bed dreaming sweet dreams!)

Breakfast

Miso soup from yesterday with a splash of shoyu

Millet & amaranth porridge (yum) with a little drizzle of rice syrup

Nettle tea

Lunch

Brown basmati rice (I love the smell of this!), green lentils, steamed carrots with a shoyu/tahini dressing & lots of oven roasted parsnip

Coffee mousse

Grain coffee

Dinner

Black bean and tofu, spelt noodles, mixed salad and mixed veg (from the lovely health food cafe)

Roasted green tea

Carob & apple pie. For the first time EVER I felt as though I could have easily have chosen not to eat this and almost kind of wanted to. I think I might just have eaten enough sweet things to see me through to the end of the year (at least) and now I’m beginning to feel that I don’t want them as much. This is interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes. I feel like something is changing but I can’t quite explain what it is yet??!!…

Snacks/other

1 beer

I am away until Sunday evening so in the meantime eat, live, breathe, be & keep well.

Adios!

Millet, amaranth, brown rice and hato mugi porridge

Macro greetings to you!

I’m back but not for long as I will be off to Devon again on Thursday for the next exciting installment of my macrobiotic adventures…yay!!

I got home late last night and decided that I would make my life easier and give my body a bit of a break from all the amazing food I ate whilst in Devon. So, breakfast and lunch were simply grain, grain and more grain. This morning I managed to cook some brown rice and hato mugi and had that for breakfast with an umeboshi plum. Have you tried a plum yet? I found them so strange and pretty grim at first but I must now confess that they have grown on me alot and I really enjoy eating them now, especially with brown rice!

I had some mu tea and a some nori for breakfast too.

Lunch

More brown rice and hato mugi with another plum (ok, ok, pehraps 2 plums in one day is a bit much!)

Amazake drink

Dinner

A beautiful white fish broth made with garlic, ginger, kombu, carrot & onion with a spring onion garnish

Snacks

Parsnip crisps (oven roasted)

I’m afraid to say that I didn’t take any photos at all whilst I was away. This was mainly because I couldn’t face faffing around with my camera at each meal and wanted to just take it easy. However,  I can tell you that I am happy to report that I ate the most AMAZING food, particularly the best lasagne I’ve ever tasted and the tastiest seitan dish known to man.  Oh yeah and I mustn’t forget the unforgettable raspberry and pear crumble….amongst many other wonderful dishes of course!

OK bed is calling…

Good Night!

:O)
