Hola!

It seems there are some exciting things happening with macrobiotics at the moment. There is the new cafe which has opened in primrose hill (www.macrobioticcafe.com) :O). Hooray – London now officially has a macro cafe!!! yay!!

On the 18th October it is the Macrobiotic Association conference day where there will be talks from a few leading teachers (sooooo exciting!). Check out the website for further information (http://www.macrobiotics.org.uk/)

And finally, my teacher, Marijke De Coninck will be giving another talk that evening at Primrose Hill on healing the body, heart & relationships. Scroll down for further information about this. Marijke will also be offering private consultations during her stay in London over 3 days.

I’ve really enjoyed eating some simple food today :O)

Breakfast

Sweet rice & aduki beans with miso

Lunch

Sweet rice and aduki bean soup with tekka

Halva and puffed rice

Dinner

Millet & cauliflower with gomasio, carrot tempura & sauerkraut

No drinks!

Love & light

Sharlene

Marjike’s talk:

Healing the body, heart & relationships: what secrets to our bodies hold? With Marijke De Coninck

In this lecture we will learn the art of reading the body to unravel layer by layer what the body holds, physically and emotionally, and how this blocks us from moving forward in our lives. By releasting these blocks, we set ourselves free to take the next step, to see clearly and break long held patterns. We will find the weak and strong areas and organs in our body and we will learn how to heal them and treat them with respect.

Marijke will lead you in th art of diagnosis and healing. You will learn to look through the masks people are holding on to. Marijke can create, in a very short time, a safe space in which you are allowed to have an internal breakthrough whilst at the same time learning diagnostic skills. Marijke is giving private consultations in London on Sunday 18th, Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th October. Please email her at meridiaan@gmail.com to book. For people interested in her teachings in Devon and the 3 year training to become a Marcobiotic & Life Counsellor, there will be time after the lecture to talk to her.

It is on Sunday 18th October at 5.15 – 7.15pm at Triyoga in Primrose Hill & costs £25.

Hey!

Hello! :O) I am back in London again, albiet rather briefly before I return to Devon on Wednesday for more macro adventures!

Day 19

Breakfast

Miso soup & oat porridge with shoyu and gomasio, some seitan, sunflower seeds & a little bit of pumpkin and fu tempura

Lunch

I can’t quite remember exactly what it was but I know I had couscous, grain balls, seitan and some vegetables…(sorry to be a little vague! There is always an abundance of food and different dishes that it is sometimes very difficult to keep track!)

Granola and amazake

Grain coffee

Bancha tea

Dinner

I skipped dinner tonight to give my body a little bit of a break from the recent bombardment of food!!

Day 20

Breakfast

Brown rice and quinoa porridge with shoyu and sunflower seeds

Granola

Lunch

Hummous, pita bread, brown rice, boiled vegetables, sauerkraut, salad leaves, cucumber

Flap jack

Bancha tea

Snack

Flap jack

Dinner

I didn’t have dinner again as I had a snack and was travelling for almost 6 hours (zzzz!).

I’m finding myself beginning to really listen to my body and to know when to stop eating or when to not have a dessert or skip a meal. I always used to jump at any opportunity to have a dessert or to have a second portion of something particularly yummy but I am not feeling the urge to do that so much anymore. It’s so nice to be able listen more. Of course, there can be a multitude of things that stop us from listening (emotions, circumstances, habits etc) so trying to tackle those first could be a good place to start if you want to make way for more listening.

I feel a sense of relief to be home and to be cooking for myself again. Whilst having such delicious food prepared and cooked is always such a pleasure & a luxury, I guess feel that I am beginning to be able to cook for myself in a way that I know is most nourishing for my condition and I’ve missed having that precision. Ahh, home sweet home!!

It seems that it’s all about tuning in more and more!

Much love and fine tuning!

Hey!

The day isn’t over yet but I thought I’d update you now just incase I don’t get a chance to later. I am on my way to Devon for much macrobiotic fun and frolics and I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to post when I’m there (although I will try). However, I will keep a note of EVERYTHING I eat so I can update you upon my return.

Breakfast

A miso soup which turned into a kind of stew as it was so thick. Made of hijiki, onions, carrot & corn pasta with sunflower and onion bread. Yummy!!!

Lunch

Brown rice roasted before being pressure cooked with mu tea, & gomasio…this was soooo delicious. I think I may have found my new favourite way of eating/cooking brown rice :O)

My time in Devon is set to be interesting since I will be making more conscious decisions about what I eat. I usually just eat a bit of everything and anything without giving much consideration to the proportions (a.k.a yin and yang). I’m also not going to be eating any sweets (fruit or sweetners) so it will be a challenge resisting all the lovely daily desserts that will be there. We’ll see how I go!

Look after yourself in the meantime.

Much love & nourishment

Sharlene

Update

Yay – I am able to post :O)

Dinner

Soup with squash and leek

Brown rice & barley with gomasio, red cabbage, tempeh, brocolli and cauliflower, gherkins

Twig tea

Howdy!

Brrr, it seems the summer is well and truly over. I can see the trees preparing for winter as the leaves begin changing colour and the energy starts making it’s way inwards. Soon, there will be naked trees everywhere! It really reminds me that we must all focus on building and strengthening our inward energy (regardless of the seasons!).

Breakfast

Porridge made with barley and hato mugi with shoyu

Lunch

Miso soup made with dulse, onion, carrot & green beans

Sweet rice, pressed cucumber, roasted parsnip and sauerkraut

Dinner

I got home a little later tonight and wasn’t so hungry so I had an amazake dessert just to sooth me into the evening! ahhh!!

Another drinkless day!

Sweet amazake dreams
