It is so strange coming home to my family and seeing their eating & lifestyle habits (which are now so different to mine…phew!). Sometimes I find myself being very analytical about it all and it’s really difficult to try to get out of that mindset and just allow things to be and accept that things are just the way they are. For example, my Mum’s diet today has consisted of a few jelly babies and some chocolate, numerous cups of tea and some soft drinks & about a million cigarettes….! Unfortunately (but justifiably) she is not too well, and it seems so clear to me that the reasons why is that she makes very poor choices when it comes to her diet and lifestyle and is not aware of how to take care of herself. However, I guess I just have to let it be and pray that one day she’ll wake up and take responsibility. It’s sad, it’s ironic but it’s just the way it is! It makes me feel so lucky that I have found this amazing path.

Christmas day…yayyy!
Day 24
Breakfast
No breakfast
Lunch
Carrot & lentil miso soup with kombu
Sweet rice porridge with a little bit of shoyu
Dinner
Buckwheat, kale with ume su, stewed cabbage – this dinner was sooooo amazing!! Mmmm.
I had far too much alcohol last night…it is normally tradition that I go out with my siblings on Christmas eve and last night I went out with my sister & I drank too much & found myself getting very carried away in the moment! I drank whiskey, beer & tequila.
When I got home this morning (!) I engaged in some ‘lower level’ eating and ate a doughnut & some crisps…OH MY I ATE SUGAR!!!… although it wasn’t for the taste, I just needed to eat food to absorb some of the alcohol I think! ahh that is the first time I have eaten sugar this year. Crazy! I don’t want to feel guilty about that or become obsessive about it (although my family have had fun teasing me about this today!!! he he!!) as I think it is easy to do that. All these things can be lessons for us and can teach us many things so I will learn from my experience.

Hello
I’m a little late in updating on here as since yesterday I really haven’t had a chance so here I am, better late than never!
Day 22
Breakfast
Oat milk with a splash of shoyu
Lunch
A miso stew type thing! with miso, chickpeas, carrots & onions
Dinner
I ate out tonight at a lovely Ethiopian restaurant. It was really delicious but far too yin and I paid the price for that…almost immediately after eating I had a sore throat (I’ve not felt so great for over a week now & not being 100% well again and then having such strong yin, I think my body was a little overwhelmed and not so grateful!). I had a sore throat this morning too.
Sour dough bread, okra & tomatoe, pumpkin & tomato, tofu with vegetables, fried potatoes – it was really tomatoey and very spicy.
Fresh mint tea & a little water
Day 23

Roasted sweet rice
Dinner
Roasted sweet rice
Bancha tea
I’m feeling better now…yeahh!

Hey!
Day 19 of December – WOW! That means that the year is almost over. I love this time of year because it’s a great opportunity to take some time to reflect on the past year and to also take time to be clear and sure of one’s hopes and dreams for next year. 2010 is going to be an amazing year, I can feel it in my bones!!!
Last new year I gave up sugar and I’ve been thinking what my new year’s resolution will be for 2010. I decided today that I will be waving goodbye to eating more than what I need to :O) There have been soooo many times this year when I’ve over eaten and it’s an old ghost that keeps coming back to haunt me again and again. I’m fed up with myself for repeating this stupid habit time and time again, and it’s time for it to go! I can see that it is very clearly linked to my emotions, and it’s a way of providing a feeling of short-lived comfort which inevitably results in feeling awful (on all levels) afterwards (actually, it is not so disimilar to sugar and why I used to eat sugar!). I’m ready to change this once and for all as I know how detrimental it is. It seems I gave up sugar with no problem at all, so there is no reason why I cannot now give up this. And I am sure, in so doing, that it will allow my body to work better than ever before :O) yayyy!
Breakfast
Miso soup made with arame, brocolli & cauliflower
Brown rice with chestnuts and barley malt
Lunch
Mackerel
Dinner
Millet with gomasio, stewed onion, carrot, squash & water cress
A dessert made with aduki beans, chestnuts, apples, dried coconut & date syrup

I’m starting to feel excited about Christmas now…yayyy!

Hello
There are times when I find myself completely overwhelmed with questions about macrobiotics, about my body, about healing, about health and today I found myself very much there. It’s like being in some kind of dense forrest where the trees are not trees but question marks…! I hope I will some day be able to cut down those question marks and replace them with beautiful trees of knowing & clarity!
Breakfast
Sweet rice cream with chestnuts & barley malt
Lunch
Brown rice, chestnuts, mackarel, brussel sprouts, stewed squash and onion
Dinner
Sweet rice cream, chestnuts, stewed squash & onion & steamed brocolli
A liquidless day!
God bless!
