Hello!

I had a mega busy day today & yesterday so I’m keeping this brief and getting myself to bed early ready for an action packed week ahead.

This evening I really realised and felt for myself that the food choices we make can play such a big part in shifting old energy and bring about healing spiritually and emotionally. I’ve felt like I experienced some of that this weekend & it has been strengthening but tiring at the same time!

Day 30

Breakfast

Millet & sweet rice with shoyu

Late lunch/dinner

Millet & sweet rice, tempura of carrot & also some mixed sprouts with daikon

Bancha tea

Salted popcorn

Day 31

Breakfast

Millet & sweet rice porridge with a drizzle of date syrup

Late lunch/dinner

Split pea soup, quinoa, mushrooms, salmon, tofu, brocolli, olives, peppers & beetroot

Halva

Bancha tea

Grain coffee with soya milk

Mmm, I ate out tonight and it was really nice to have food that I hadn’t cooked myself. I’ve had a few yin things today too and it was the first time that I really craved something yin. I think after a particularly emotional weekend, that little bit of yin feels kind of supportive!

I don’t think I’ve eaten particularly well the last few days so my priority and focus this week will be to make sure I eat and live very very well, ahhhh yeahhhh!

Sweet macro dreams

Breakfast

A little bit of natto

Lunch

Cous cous and seitan croquettes, grated daikon and shoyu, steamed leeks

Red bush tea

Dinner

Swede & onion miso soup – this was soooo sweet.

Barley, hato mugi & brown rice, hijiki with almonds, beetroot & stewed peas and onions

Twig tea and a couple of pieces of macro fudge I made for someone for Friday (and couldn’t resist trying and having a little bit for myself :O). Good evening!

Woah…day 26 already? That’s just crazy!

Breakfast

I wasn’t going to have any breakfast this morning as I didn’t feel hungry when I woke up but by the time I got to work I felt really hungry so I had some leftover broth that I was going to have for lunch. Mmm, it was really nice!

Lunch

Millet, red lentils, mushroom & onion & a slice of home made sour dough from yesterday. I received a beautiful deliver of natto and miso today so I had some natto at lunch which was sooo yummy. If you’ve never had natto before you will probably find it super strange. It smells a bit weird and has a stringy kind of consistency but it has a number of great health benefits :) mmmm!

Dandelion tea

Dinner

I decided it was time to make something new this evening so I made some seitan and cous cous croquettes which were really yummy. Served with a ginger and shoyu dipping sauce, some grated daikon with shoyu, some steamed leeks & a couple of salted cashew nuts. A simple dinner :)

Ahhh, I love macrobiotics!!

HELLO!!

Ahh how nice it is to be back. No exams & no studies for a few months…boy I need that!

My exams are out of the way and to say that I am relieved is an under statement!! My written exam went well but I am not so sure about my cooking and practical exams…oops! I made a few silly mistakes in my cooking exam but hey ho, it’s a lesson in learning that it’s ok to get things wrong and in actual fact, it’s really a blessing in disguise since it means I have really learnt some things that I will never forget. It’s a reminder that mistakes are important in this life as they propel us towards growth.

Whilst I was in Devon, we had our last supper and last lunch together and as a way of celebrating that I decided to share eating dessert with everyone. There is definitely alot to be said for sharing the same food with others and how that helps to create and build a bond. I guess it’s about sharing the same energy. Anyway, I really enjoyed the desserts. The first one was an apricot mousse and the second was a really lovely pear tart. Mmm!

I had a few mouthfuls of some desserts after my cooking exam too (I had to try mine of course and once a few fellow students had finished theirs, it was only right for me to engage in a taster session!) which was really nice,  although I am glad to be home now and dessert free for a few weeks. I think it’s important not to do this kind of thing because you want to deprive yourself in some way, or because you see desserts as bad. They are not bad. But I understand that my condition at the moment is best suited to no or very few desserts and that is why I want to try it. I feel very ready to experiment and to take my practice of macrobioitcs further and in so doing, it means that I might do things that can appear a little extreme. But you must learn and study for yourself, find out what is right for your condition and do your best to stick with that. Experiment, try things and see what works for you.

I didn’t keep a list of everything I ate over the weekend but I can tell you that it was all beautiful, unadulterated, wholesome & inspiring food.

And today’s food goes something like this:

Breakfast

Sweet rice & brown rice with shoyu

Lunch

Sweet rice & brown rice with an umeboshi plum

A pukka tea (with cinnamon, licorice root, cocoa beans, roasted chicory root, cardamon seeds and fennel seeds)

Dinner

A lovely broth (inspired by the mistake I made in my exam!!) made with a kombu dashi, buckwheat noodles, celery & daikon with parsley (I took a lovely photo of this but I can’t upload photos at the moment so I think I’ll set up a facebook album and put it in there until I get my photo issue resolved)

Millet with gomasio, red lentil dahl, sauerkraut & stewed mushroom and onion with some beautiful home made steamed millet & brown rice sourdough bread with shoyu & tahini dressing

Twig tea

I had a packet of beetroot, parsnip & carrot crisps after work too & a couple of roasted cashews as I was so hungry!

Oh yeah, I ordered some home made natto and miso today from someone in the UK. I can’t wait to receive this. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with Reiko at golfahall@hotmail.com It seems more and more exciting things are happening within the wonderful world of macrobiotics. Yayy!

OK, time for some kidney replenishment. My kidneys weren’t too happy with the exam stress this weekend so now I must take extra special care of them!

Bless your kidneys!

Goodnight!

Hey Peeps!

I’m feeling really good today. I went for a run at lunch time and this has been really great for me. I also have started eating slight smaller portions too as it has been long over due. I think I have over eaten most of my life (I’m not kidding!) and now it’s time to break free from this habit. I’m feeling very strong and dedicated to doing this at the moment (just like how I felt last year when I gave up sugar completely). I think with most things, when I want to make changes it can take me a little bit of time to work up to it, and maybe a few failed attempts, but once I begin then there is no stopping me. Long may this continue!

It has been my first week without any sweets. I will not have any sweets until the 14th February. It’s an experiment I am doing but also part of my homework too. I haven’t thought or craved any sweets yet which has made it easier. Later this week it might be difficult as I will be in Devon and there will be ample sweets every day. However, I will try my best to resist. Never say never, but I really feel that I want to try a good few weeks without to see how that feels. I really feel that my body needs this too now.

Breakfast

Miso soup from yesterday & some millet & brown rice pie from yesterday

Dinner

Millet & brown rice with carrot, onion & parsnip & a beautiful little umeboshi plum (yum!)
