HELLO!!
Ahh how nice it is to be back. No exams & no studies for a few months…boy I need that!
My exams are out of the way and to say that I am relieved is an under statement!! My written exam went well but I am not so sure about my cooking and practical exams…oops! I made a few silly mistakes in my cooking exam but hey ho, it’s a lesson in learning that it’s ok to get things wrong and in actual fact, it’s really a blessing in disguise since it means I have really learnt some things that I will never forget. It’s a reminder that mistakes are important in this life as they propel us towards growth.
Whilst I was in Devon, we had our last supper and last lunch together and as a way of celebrating that I decided to share eating dessert with everyone. There is definitely alot to be said for sharing the same food with others and how that helps to create and build a bond. I guess it’s about sharing the same energy. Anyway, I really enjoyed the desserts. The first one was an apricot mousse and the second was a really lovely pear tart. Mmm!
I had a few mouthfuls of some desserts after my cooking exam too (I had to try mine of course and once a few fellow students had finished theirs, it was only right for me to engage in a taster session!) which was really nice, although I am glad to be home now and dessert free for a few weeks. I think it’s important not to do this kind of thing because you want to deprive yourself in some way, or because you see desserts as bad. They are not bad. But I understand that my condition at the moment is best suited to no or very few desserts and that is why I want to try it. I feel very ready to experiment and to take my practice of macrobioitcs further and in so doing, it means that I might do things that can appear a little extreme. But you must learn and study for yourself, find out what is right for your condition and do your best to stick with that. Experiment, try things and see what works for you.
I didn’t keep a list of everything I ate over the weekend but I can tell you that it was all beautiful, unadulterated, wholesome & inspiring food.
And today’s food goes something like this:
Breakfast
Sweet rice & brown rice with shoyu
Lunch
Sweet rice & brown rice with an umeboshi plum
A pukka tea (with cinnamon, licorice root, cocoa beans, roasted chicory root, cardamon seeds and fennel seeds)
Dinner
A lovely broth (inspired by the mistake I made in my exam!!) made with a kombu dashi, buckwheat noodles, celery & daikon with parsley (I took a lovely photo of this but I can’t upload photos at the moment so I think I’ll set up a facebook album and put it in there until I get my photo issue resolved)
Millet with gomasio, red lentil dahl, sauerkraut & stewed mushroom and onion with some beautiful home made steamed millet & brown rice sourdough bread with shoyu & tahini dressing
Twig tea
I had a packet of beetroot, parsnip & carrot crisps after work too & a couple of roasted cashews as I was so hungry!
Oh yeah, I ordered some home made natto and miso today from someone in the UK. I can’t wait to receive this. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with Reiko at golfahall@hotmail.com It seems more and more exciting things are happening within the wonderful world of macrobiotics. Yayy!
OK, time for some kidney replenishment. My kidneys weren’t too happy with the exam stress this weekend so now I must take extra special care of them!
Bless your kidneys!
Goodnight!
Sharlene
